This is another installment of "Getting To Know Me", with a slight Valentine's Day twist: I'm only listing things that I love. I'm going to try not to list things that y'all already know, although if you're a member of my family, you'd better already know them! ;-)
I love:
-Porch swings: wooden swings hanging from metal chains.
-Screen doors: real ones without glass, especially ones that creak & slam shut.
-Old-fashioned items: basically, if it looks like it could (or did) belong in someone's grandmother's house, I love it.
-Plants: I have 2 large peace lillies, 7 ivies, 2 hydrangeas, 2 lantanas, 8 mums, 2 unknown plants given to me by a student, an old large plant named Big Daddy & his offshoot named Little Daddy, & 2 wisteria - & these are just my potted plants!
-Old music: Hit Parade 1945 is one of my favorite CDs. And you already know that I heart Bing Crosby & Louis Armstrong!
-Musicals: Of course, it stands to reason that I'm wild about musicals, too. My favorites are "The Sound of Music" & "White Christmas", & I adore the Fred & Ginger movies.
-Grass & gravel driveways: This was the first thing that drew me to our home. Maybe it's old-fashioned or it reminds me of the country, I don't know, but they're definitely preferable to concrete as far as I'm concerned.
-Barns: If we are ever able to build a house, we're building a big ol' barn complete with sliding barn doors on the side! Or so says me, anyways.
-Country: Not the music (which is completely heathenistic), but the land. I am by no means a city girl, even though I wasn't raised in the country. I love the open land totally devoid of shopping centers, rush hour traffic, & throngs of people. Just trees, meadows, & animals - although hopefully none that will eat me. ;-)
-Flip-Flops: I would wear these year-round if my feet didn't freeze in winter. As a matter of fact, the mild weather this past weekend allowed me to slip them back on. My common statement when wearing socks & shoes is that "my feet can't breathe!"
-Camping: My favorite time of year to camp is in the Fall. When I hear crows cawing, I get that itch to set up a tent & sleep outdoors. That longing had to be deferred this past Fall, but we'll hopefully get to go this year!
That's all folks! I hope you enjoyed my little list & that I was able to keep you at least slightly entertained. Have a great day! "Y'all come back, now, ya hear?!"
Hey there! I could guess a few of those "loves" and it was nice to learn the rest of the things you love. I am officially inviting you to our parents house in Laurel, Montana - it has a barn!!
ReplyDeleteLOL! Thanks for the invitation! I can tell from what I know about y'all that we couldn't keep up with such outdoorsy people - at least not yet. We're working on it! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading your list! I'm with you on the "my feet can't breathe!"
