The Great Cloud of Witnesses

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. (Hebrews 12:1-2)

Tuesday morning, Christian Schmidt joined this great cloud of witnesses. I was never able to meet this extraordinary young man, but in the short time that I've gotten to know him through his blog, I've been profoundly impacted by him. I've thought of him & his family often over the last several days. Aaron Keyes sings a song entitled "Blessing & Honor" that contains these words:

"Blessing & honor,
Glory & power
Be unto Your name, O Lord"

As these words are sung repeatedly, they sink into my very soul. It's an amazing thing to think that Christian's now standing before the throne of God, proclaiming these words in His presence.  Please continue to keep his family in your prayers.
